Marathon race
The third edition

Following on from the success of the first two editions, the organizing committee is proud to announce this third vintage of the Sauternes Marathon that will take place on Sunday 2nd June 2013.

There is a lot in common between running a marathon and making Sauternes wine. Both of them are synonymous with conviviality and sharing, they both teach humility, and running a marathon, just like making Sauternes, requires perseverance and implies a quest for excellence. Add to this the magnificence of the countryside and it becomes apparent that it was essential to put this beautiful region in the limelight.

The nearby village of Pujols sur Ciron joins forces with the 5 communes of the appellation (Sauternes, Fargues de Langon, Preignac, Bommes, and Barsac) where chateaux with such magical names as  Malle, Filhot, Climens, Yquem, and many more will welcome you with open arms. Vineyards, music, and wine-tasting are all part of the festivities for this first weekend of June. Local wine producers are thus one of the mainstays of the event's success.

The Sauternes Marathon provides the perfect opportunity to discover the region's wealth of attractions and tourist accommodation. Early June is the ideal time to discover the area around Sauternes: the countryside and the vineyards are in flower; it is a time when Nature is full of promise.
